B&M Survive LDR!

Welcome to B&M Survive LDR!

We are 3 years into our relationship and a little under 3 years of LDR. I bet you have only ever really heard about the bad and the ugly of Long Distance Relationships? Well with this blog, we want to share the good that comes from it as well.

Ohh La La Date Night

Are virtual date nights a thing? How, if ya'll don’t like to video chat? What do ya'll do? How do you do date night? How often do we do it? What if I tell you that we have a date night, that is our absolute favorite and go to when we want to just unwind with each other. We do Movie Date night which sounds weird but we love it.

Taking cue from a previous post on our blog called Exploring Intimacy, being in a LDR you find ways to still be near or feel connected to your partner. When Bry and I were in the first few months of our relationship, we were still in school and were able to see each other all the time. Sometimes we would just chill in Bry’s room and watch a movie or really whatever she was watching. Many of those movies would be 5th Element or Pretty Woman, which I still haven't seen the whole movie yet.

Since we started LDR, we knew that movie night was something we still wanted to keep doing. We would pick a time and day and then take turns on who would pick the movie. We adapted the now popular saying of “Netflix and Chill”, since we both had Netflix and endless possibilities of movies to watch and since we are saving ourselves until marriage ain’t no chill. It was going well for a while but it started to become a routine. So in order to keep it fresh, Bryanna decided that we should do Movie/Date night from time to time.

It was a great idea. Instead of just waiting to talk at the time we picked a movie, we would both grab/cook something to eat and talk for a little while first or we would eat and watch at the same time. This actually made date night more interesting at times. Usually Bry would cook and if I didn't cook, then I definitely had Moe's or Wendys. One time we both had the crazy idea to order pizza each for ourselves as we watched a movie. In the beginning we starting using Netflix Party on Google chrome and would use the chat box but now that we both have smart TVs, we get on the phone and Bry loves to count down to pressing play on the movie. Gotta love it!

I just wanted to share with you all one of the ways we managed to still have date nights in our relationship. If you want to see more ideas of things to do while you and your partner are together, go read our previous post “Exploring Intimacy”. At the end of the post, there's a list of things you can do to keep the connection strong.
